Implicit Bias Course Overview
Implicit Bias in Healthcare is a 1-hour continuing education course designed for both Registered Nurses (RN) and Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN) in California. It covers what implicit bias is, how it forms, how it can show up in nursing practice, its consequences for patient care, and the policies and practices that help reduce its impact.
For Registered Nurses, this course satisfies the one-hour implicit bias training requirement under Assembly Bill 1407 (16 CCR §1452/§1456; Business & Professions Code §2811.5) for licensees within their first two years of licensure, and its curriculum also meets the implicit-bias content requirement for direct-patient-care CE courses under Assembly Bill 241 (Business & Professions Code §2736.5). For Licensed Vocational Nurses, this course is approved by the California Board of Vocational Nursing & Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT) for 1.0 contact hour of general continuing education.
